JOY REVIEW
I really liked JOY. I can’t speak for J-Law the Phenomena, but Jennifer Lawrence the Actress kept me in my seat for the two-hour running time. Might also have to do with a pretty compelling story as well.
This is one of those times where the marketing department really fucked up. I remember seeing the trailers for it and got absolutely no hook or path into what the movie was about or why I should see it in the theater. My dad goes and sees films every Thursday and often asks me about potential ticket buys. He asked me about this one, and I remember telling him “I have absolutely no clue what it’s about, other than maybe Jennifer Lawrence shoots a shotgun.”
Suffice it to say, after watching it, I can tell you it’s a pretty good biopic about a single mom who goes through hell and back to get her invention to the public. See, marketing guys — that ain’t so hard, is it?
